O-Week Domination!

Hey ELers!

Congratulations on a great O-Week. As all of you know, we won the spirit competition for the first time in over 4 years! This win not only gives us bragging rights for the year, it also won us $200 in hall funds so we can have more fun throughout the year! It was an amazing week and on behalf of all the Hall Staff, job well done! Here are some pictures of all of our shenanigans!

Who is the other 1/2 of ELA, you ask?

Hey Engaged Livers,
I live on Townes 100 and am stoked to be your other ELA for the fall. I lived in Engaged Living my freshmen year and was an R.A. on a freshmen hall last year. I am a Junior communication studies major from Spartanburg, S.C. I love Irish dancing, breakfast, and all things Disney Channel. I can't wait for you guys to come to Furman and experience O-Week.

I hope you all are ready for the best year yet!

Your Townes 200 Hall Staff!

Hey Guys, I am Dan Weidenbenner (don't worry on how to pronounce that beast either... most people don't even try). I will be the R.A. on Townes 200 this year. I am a rising senior, psychology major from South Florida. One of my favorite things is going on Waffle House runs during the early hours of the morning.

Hey guys, I'm Jack and yes, I'm a math major. But don't let that fool you. If you're looking to discover the Athens/Asheville/Greenville music scene, I'm your man. I also know some gorgeous hiking and camping spots about an hour out if that interests you. I'm excited about meeting y'all next year.

Tyler Rives is also going to be a FRAD on Townes 200. He is a rising sophomore and intending to major in psychology. Tyler is from Fort Mill, South Carolina and loves hitting the waves for a little surfing.

This man right here is Robert Hunter Beaty Jr. and he is going to be a FRAD on Townes 200. Robert is off this summer in PerĂº on a mission trip. Robert was in Engaged Living two years ago back when it was in Poteat. He is a rising Junior, Asian studies major from Sumter, SC. Robert may be more intimidating than Jason, so ya'll better watch yourselves.

Townes 400 Staff!

Ladies and Gents...I proudly present your T4 hall staff!

I'm Claire, the girl who gets crazy excited about snow at Furman! I'm a sophomore Earth and Environmental Science major and a former member of ECOS and I'm the T400 RA this year. I'm from the small city of Oak Ridge, Tennessee and I spend my summers working in wildlife management. Also, I am eternally bullied by Jason Brown, watch out kids, he's a mean one! (Just kidding!)

Here are two of the lovely FRADs of T4! Anne and Meghan are also sophomores this year. They are both music majors and crazy talented! They are oodles of fun and very fascinating people. Meghan should be famous for her incredible hugs, like the one she's giving in this picture! They are both South Carolina gals, sweetest in the world!

Our last beautiful hall staffer for T4 is the famous Katie! Katie is a youtube rockstar. Check her out! http://www.youtube.com/user/acoustickatie24?blend=2&ob=4
She's seriously amazing. Katie is a sophomore too! She's from right outside of Cleveland, Ohio. I know she's pumped for O-week and another great year at Furman!

We can't wait to meet all of you during O-week and have a blast together in 2010-2011!

What to Bring With You?

As summer is quickly entering its last stage, an important topic for all first year college students is what they're going to take with them to school. The Furman Housing cite gives students a pretty good list to guide them through this often stressful phase in college preparation:

http://www2.furman.edu/studentlife/housing/NewStudents/Pages/WhattoBringWithYou.aspx

A good piece of advice that I can give you guys is to communicate with your roommate and suite mates. Trust me, you don't want to buy an awesome new TV for the room only to learn that you're roommate is bringing an even better one.

As Dan already mentioned in his O-Week post, it would be awesome if you guys brought some crazy Egyptian-related stuff to wear for O-Week. So if any of you have a pharaoh hat, cleopatra wig, or mummified cat laying around, definitely bring it. If you have something not related to Egypt but completely ridiculous, then by all means bring it. We want to be the most crazy ridiculous group throughout O-Week!

If you guys have any questions, go ahead and comment. One of us will be happy to answer your question.
