What is O-Week?

The Best Week of Your Life... no really! Well, it stands for Orientation Week. Although it is no longer a full week, it is a time for first year students to get plugged into Furman and get acquainted with one another before classes start. Activities include but are not limited to... Furman traditions, cheering, o-mance, learning your roommate’s strange habits, exhaustion, awkward moments, singing, dancing, and some good healthy competition. The entire time of O-week is a competition amongst all the brother-sister freshman halls across campus. It is a really big deal! As Engaged Living, our entire building of Townes will be a team.

O-Staff is a group of crazy fun upperclassmen students that will help determine who wins O-week and help organize and run most of O-week. Most of our activities/competitions will involve using our hall theme, Egypt. So think mummies, pharaohs, pyramids, camels, desert, etc.

So what we need from YOU is to start brainstorming ideas for cheers, skits, costumes, and dances that involve Egyptian things. Remember to bring any wild and crazy Egyptian costumes or decorations we can use, such as old sheets to make a mummy costume or your little sister's crazy wigs. ALSO, if we win O-week all of Townes will receive extra hall funds to spend towards things like Atlanta Braves games, pizza partys, or ice-cream downtown. So get all the sleeping you can get this summer because there will not be much during O-week! Post things on the blog or facebook to help us win O-week. If you have any questions, feel free to post those too!

Here are some pictures of O-week last year...
